Pure Comedy? I weep for our generation.

Father John Misty - "Pure Comedy"

This song is absolutely insufferable.  It is the epitome of echo-chamber liberalism.  Indie-ish 30-something pens ironically straightforward lyrics about how woefully tragic the human race is; intersperse music video with imagery from recent presidential election to remind people that this, right now, is the darkest moment in all of human history (it's not).  End song with an uplifting non-sequitur in lowballed bid to seal it as a classic amongst Seriously Complex millenials.

Anyone listening to this song already *knows* what it tells them, and they have learned it through contact with more effective artistic manifestations.  Hence, it does what's possibly the worst thing a piece of art can do: it patronizes its audience.
